Olivier Messiaen's Catalogue d'oiseauxWestfield_color_rgb_small[6]

Saturday, March 7, 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Join us for a performance of music inspired by birds, live-streamed from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

In honor of Cornell University's sesquicentennial and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's centennial, this performance highlights a joint page in the histories of the Lab and the Cornell Department of Music. From the 1950s on, composer Olivier Messiaen made extensive use of recordings from the Lab of Ornithology. His trip to Ithaca, sponsored by the Department of Music, included an enthusiastic visit to the Lab. Space for the concert is limited and pre-registration is required to attend the performance in person. Bookmark this page to attend the live-streamed event.  View the program.

The concert is part of Environs Messiaen: Nature Rendered at the Keyboard, a five-day festival-symposium presented by the Westfield Center with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Cornell Department of Music. The festival features five concerts, four lectures, a film screening, and a sound installation. See the full festival schedule.
