What they eat: Tufted Titmice eat mainly insects. When they eat seeds or nuts, they always choose the largest kinds they can—like sunflower seeds, acorns, and beechnuts. Titmice visit tube, hopper, platform, and suet cage feeders.
Where they live: Tufted Titmice prefer to live in forests with lots of trees. They are found in the eastern U.S., with some occurrence in southeast Canada and northeast Mexico along the Gulf of Mexico.
Did you know? Titmice seldom eat seeds or nuts on the feeder, where other bird activity disturbs them. They usually carry these large items to a branch to feed alone.
How they sound: These birds make a high, whistled peter-peter-peter song. |
