BIG DAY is the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's biggest birding event of the year!
For more than 30 years the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has been sending a team of expert birders to different locations throughout the world in order to identify as many bird species as possible — all in the name of bird conservation. What makes this BIG DAY event extreme is that the team only has 24 hours to meet their goal!
BIG DAY 2019 is just around the corner and this year the Cornell Lab's birding Dream Team, Team Sapsucker, will compete in a 24-hour non-stop birding marathon on the Gulf Coast of Mexico — one of the most critical regions for birds.
On May 4, Team Sapsucker will head to Florida, Alabama, and Texas for a 24-hour quest to try to reach their ambitious goal of finding 225 bird species - and raising $575,000 for conservation and research. This birding blitz is the Lab's biggest conservation science fundraiser of the year.
Please support Team Sapsucker and the Cornell Lab by making a pledge for each bird species that Team Sapsucker finds on BIG DAY. After the event, we'll share the results with you so you can fulfill your pledged amount.
Or if you prefer to help now, please donate a special gift to show your support for Team Sapsucker.
