Tips for Recording Your Video

When recording your video, please include the following:

  • Your name
  • Why you do GBBC & for how many years
  • Where you are birding
  • Optional: birds you see during GBBC

Make it fun and celebratory! Birding for GBBC is fun and we want to see that come through!

Here's an example of what we are looking for!

Considerations to help your video shine.

  • Use a tool accessible to you-- a cell phone or tablet works great

  • Film in a quiet area and hold the camera steady or use a tripod.

  • Avoid having bright light directly behind you so you don’t show up as a dark silhouette

  • Hold the camera vertically (up and down) when taking the video.

  • Look directly into the camera when speaking.

  • Avoid fast movements or quick scans of the landscape or birds.

  • Include people and/or wild birds in your filming.

  • Do a quick test video and make sure your sound comes through ok and your lighting works well.

  • Preferred length of 30 - 60 seconds.
