What they eat: Seeds make up 99% of this bird’s diet, and they especially like millet. Large hopper, platform, or ground feeders are best for attracting Mourning Doves. | |
Where they live: Primarily a bird of open country and woodland edges, the Mourning Dove can also be found near roads and backyards. It occurs in parts of southern Canada, all of the lower 48 states, and into temperate Mexico. | |

How they sound: Mourning Doves sing a soft coo-oo followed by two or three louder coos, or a coo-OO-oo that is highest in the middle. |
