Want to start nature journaling? Here's a simple approach inspired by advice from illustrator Liz Clayton Fuller:
First, slow down. Find a quiet sit spot and watch birds and wildlife settle into their rhythms. Beat the blank page by starting small: date, time, weather. Then sketch loose gestures that capture general shapes and movements. Finish with brief observations: a tail flick, a call, feeding behavior, or an interaction. And just like that, you've made your first nature journal entry!
Watch Liz sketch birds in real time, talk through her artistic decisions, and show how she blends observation, scientific accuracy, and artistic expression. It's a great chance to stay connected to your art practice as winter settles in, with tips and inspiration whether you're just getting started or returning to your practice.
This workshop will be conducted completely online, live on YouTube. Live captions will be available. If you register, you will receive a link to the recording within a week of the event.
