How a quiz works:

When you start a Sound ID Quiz, you’ll see a picture of the bird and hear two sound clips. Listen carefully to each and try to choose the song that matches the bird.

Question types:

BirdWise varies the question formats to keep things fresh. Keep playing to experience near-endless variations and helpful new question types as you learn.

ID tips:

Need a quick hint? The ID Tips panel is always available at the bottom of the screen. It shows song descriptions, call notes, a range map, and recordings from the Macaulay Library for the species you're studying.

Level up:

After you complete a few rounds, BirdWise unlocks the next level. The questions become more challenging, new recordings are introduced, and your progress is tracked by species.
