Bird Songs of Spring | April 9
As we emerge from winter, birds are already on their way back. Often the first hint they're back is a new song mixing into the sounds of your backyard. We'll sit down with Cornell Lab experts to preview some of these songs, how to recognize them, and take a look at the singers behind the songs. There'll be plenty of time for Q&A—which species are you looking forward to celebrating spring with?

Bird migration isn't just a continental phenomenon—it's also super-local, happening all around you, and now's the time to enjoy the spectacle! Some of these new faces are just passing through, while others will be here all summer. We’ll check in with experts at the Cornell Lab to learn a little about the basics of bird migration, what these new arrivals are up to, and share some can’t-miss migration spectacles likely happening in your neighborhood. The summer busyness of breeding birds is on display as spring migration slows—it doesn’t take long for birds to switch over from migrating to courting and nesting. In just a few weeks there’ll be baby birds everywhere! We’ll chat with Cornell Lab experts about some of their favorite summertime birding, like enjoying the dawn chorus, and 5 cool birds to make sure you look and listen for all summer. We’ll also share some tips you can use to increase the diversity of birds visiting your yard and how to keep them safe.
